Hi, the only thing that I might be able to suggest, would be to write down some positive thoughts on an index card and place it somewhere you can see it.. maybe in a folder, or even in your car before you go in there. I wish that I had more to offer but this is what I do before I go into a stressful situation and it seems to help. Also, try some deep breathing.. sometimes when we panic, we start to hyperventilate. I have noticed that just taking a step back and drawing in a deep breath helps alot. If you notice the anxiety getting worse, focus on asking your client more questions.. really just anything to try and get your mind off of it. It seems to make it worse when you are centered on how you are feeling. Hope I have helped. Take Care Take Care Fae

Can someone please help me out with this? I am a criminal attorney, and jail visits are necessary when seeing my clients. When I've been going to the jail recently, I've been having panic attacks nearly every time I go. When visiting a client in the jail, I am behind three sets of locked doors, and cannot get out unless a staff member comes to open the doors. This usually takes at least three minutes. I have been doing relaxation exercises and affirmations before the jail visits, but the anticipatory anxiety is really starting to effect me. Does anyone have any tips as far as exposure? Bear in mind that I have to be in there visiting a client, I can't just go in to walk around. In addition, does anyone have any tips on working through a panic attack while in there visiting with a client? I've been trying to write my affirmations down while panicking in the facility, but that's extremely difficult, because most of my clients are watching every word I write. Please help!
