Hi rjade,

I am sorry to read about your slip. Slips are very common. Now you know to be extra cautious when drinking. Alcohol is a huge trigger for many. The fact that this hasn't become a full blown relapse is fantastic. The few puffs is discouraging and may refresh the chemical addiction but if you are feeling good then I wouldn't worry about it too much. Just think of it as a reminder to keep your guard up. I do not think it will have that much of an impact on your healing. Just don't make it a habit of course.

Your determination is clear - focus on moving forward and try not to let this slip discourage you too much. Many believe these slips are just part of the learning process. What will you do differently next time to ensure this won't happen again?

Hi Rjade,
"I got extremely drunk and took a couple of puffs from my friends cigarette" Ouch! After ten months I would think you would have had your quit under control. "I got extremely drunk" Ohh, now we understand. When you drink you let your defenses down, you should know that already. I hope you learned from you slip. "Has this started my healing process all over again or would the few puffs I had have minimal effect on my lungs" If you did only have a "couple of puffs", it should not have did too much damage to your lungs or the rest of your body. "I’m SO disappointed in myself" We are glad to hear that. As long as you know that you messed up, and will try your best not to do it again, don't beat yourself up over the slip. You haven't started smoking again, and you say that you have no desire to do so. Just let it go and continue on with your quit journey for the rest of your life.....oh, and watch out for that darn alcohol too.
Stay strong Rjade!

The other night I got extremely drunk and took a couple of puffs from my friends cigarette!!! I’m SO disappointed in myself. Has this started my healing process all over again or would the few puffs I had have minimal effect on my lungs? I’ve not had any desire to smoke since - I’m just in disbelief that I actually did that after I’ve stayed quit for so long! HELP?!!!!
