Mercy - that is a good analogy. Quitting smoking is like dieting. It is a process with a goal with maintanence. I like that. You don't see results over night and there is no quick fix. Moss, I don't think there is a goal to reach....or a finish line with addictions. It's more a permenant way of life. Most things are attainable....but maintainance means success. Ask any dieter who lost weight only to gain it back. Moss, are you crazy??? Ride out those craves. That is all I can tell you. And take them one at a time. Just like everything else in life, before you know it, it is a year later. Trust me, I have had my days...But I would rather have a crave then cough and stink and wish I didn't smoke. Time your craves, bet they don't last very long! You are going to make it Moss, we all got your back. You just have to be strong too. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/8/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 354 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 5,310 Amount Saved: $1,486.80 Life Gained: Days: 32 Hrs: 20 Mins: 8 Seconds: 33

Well, I've been posting in a few different threads today but I want to keep this one alive yet to say thanks to those of you who helped me again. I have weathered another storm and am back to human-ness???. I had been advising others to be ready for emotional surprises but I didn't have my own guard up. I feel lucky to have you all watching out for and advising us newcomers about this experience. It helps me tremendously. Anna, you are mighty close to a year-WOW!! Wanna trade spots? Moss - I remember reading about the milestone craves but didn't think that I would have them. I thought I was doomed too. Then when I realized it was a normal part of quitting I had strength to get through them. I think that is why alot of people give up, they don't know the "sneak craves" are normal. Another great thing about this support group - proving we all need to be here! I guess I am a bit relieved to hear some of you have been there. You know what, (and Thanks for the No Man's Land, Penguin) I have read the No Man's Land thread before but some things just don't resonate until you are there yourself. I had forgotten about it actually. I think this is just finally really sinking in that I have quit, and yes, where is the pomp and circumstance and party hats? It is good to hear from you all that this is normal. Am not too crazy about the deeper level of this yet but I will continue to ride the wave. Back to work but I'll check in tonight. Please keep the advice coming for us newbies. I guess this has taught me that I am still a newbie and may well be for a while yet. Expectations are in the trash and out to the curb. I am afraid you have the 30 day craves. Expect them again at 60 days, then again at 90. Whenever I read posts like yours I always scroll down to check out the number of days they have under their belt. Hang in there, it DOES get easier. Ride this out and before you know it, you will feel wonderful for surviving the tide. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/8/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 352 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 5,280 Amount Saved: $1,478.40 Life Gained: Days: 32 Hrs: 15 Mins: 3 Seconds: 35
