Hey Lori, Just a few more days to two MONTHS as a non-smoker, eah? This winter break should be a really satisfying one for you and a huge milestone. I've been working on a big group project for one class and we are on the last stretch but it has taken a lot to get here. I have two actual finals and two papers plus whatever my job throws at me. Smoking doesn't even enter the picture. Once you break the associations, you are homefree. For better or worse, posting here is a great way to distract yourself from smoking AND studying. If I post a lot on the weekends - there is a good chance I'm in the throes of writing a paper ;) All the best My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/5/2004 Smoke-Free Days: 1203 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 24,060 Amount Saved: $5,413.50 Life Gained: Days: 91 Hrs: 21 Mins: 13 Seconds: 55

Hi Lori, quitting smoking can be a distraction to other things, but I'm proud of you for hanging in there. I'm one of those "returning" students...getting my Masters at a somewhat advanced age. It's good to be able to go and sit in the classroom or the library without having to go outside for a smoke. I don't see too many students smoking on my campus anyway. If I smoked, I would stick out even more than I already do! Just remember this: you know more than you think you know...everything you ever learned is in your head, whether you know it or not. Good luck on your exams! I am sitting in a coffee shop in Kansas City studying (or actually surfin' this site when I should be studying) and I was wondering how the rest of the students are doing out there. How is everybody? Still hitting the books and staying smoke free? I have not been doing too badly. Certainly not the intense cravings that I had when I first started studying for finals. Overall, I still don't feel that my study this semester has been as effective, but I'm hanging in there and trying to get as much in my head as I can. I have a total of 4 finals, the first of which is 2 weeks from tomorrow. 2 of the finals are in class and the other 2 are take home, which makes things both better and worse. I won't have to do as much memorization that way, but everyone else will also have all the material in front of them as well, so it's much more difficult to distinguish yourself. It's all over for me December 14 and I plan on staying smoke free until then. Would like to hear how the rest of you are doing and what you've found that works for you.
