i a gree. as with OCD, the thoughts will never go away. you need to learn to coexist with them and resist acting on the urge to run or stay home from work or do a compulsion. It's not the thoughts but the way we respond to them that matters! fighting it makes it 10x worse!
I am replying again, because I just finished my Panic Program lesson about succeeding at exposure work, and they suggested at #8. that we should go with our fear, or in your case racing thoughts, but not try to distract ourselves. We are supposed to just let it happen, not distracting ourselves with TV, music, or reading etc. They suggest allowing yourself to experience the fear producing thing (racing thoughts?) and allow ourselves to experience the fear going down. I don't know if this helps in your situation, however, I thought I would add it, since it seems contrary to what we have all been saying....
