I Know...Every Quit Is Different, But...

I'm with Windy on this one. I was really cranky when quitting. "And loved every minute of it" ;p Yes, I rather enjoyed having an excuse to be cranky!! But I just want to add my 2 cents - Cranky, whining, grumpy quitters can succeed too (cause I did!!) I celebrated every success but I had some really nasty days along the way too....(Thank God for SCC on those days) I didn't have one of those calm, peaceful positive quits but one minute turned into one day which turned into one week and then one year....and then all of a sudden - we are non-smokers!! With the added wisdom of another year quit since 2tone started this thread, I'd like to echo Katy's comment. I know it is difficult for some to believe but for many of us, it really is like that and I, for one, am loving it! Nice Bump. Penitent

2tone, Great post!!! I might even be your clone...at least in the attitude area. We still have to do the work, but over all, the positive attitude combined with the knowledge and support I've gotten at SSC has made this quit as easy as I think any quit could possibly be. Good to see you are still around, 2tone! Congrats on your stats! I have to agree with you. A switch in my brain went on, and I was done smoking. Divorced it... it died, or something, but there IS NO turning back. I have no desire to smoke, but sometimes I have a desire for something - an unidentified something. I try to fill that need with hot tea, exercise, and sometimes crunchy food, but do I want to smoke? Haven't wanted to smoke since the day I quit. Hated cigs and their power over me, but love myself now! Hi Everyone - I haven't posted in a while. I read as many posts as I can and try to keep up with everyone's ups and downs. I have to say that after 70 days or so, I think smoking is one of the most disgusting things that I ever did in my life. I see some of you that still crave after months of non-smoking, but something just snapped in me. It's almost like I hypnotized myself or something. I don't miss, crave or want another cigarette. I don't know what happened to me. If I did, I'd share it with all of you. I went to my MD today, the first time since before I quit. BP is down and I'm weaning off my meds. My cholesterol is down over 100 points. I am healthier than I've ever been in my life and I hate cigarettes! I don't mean to sound smug, but I have to share with newer quitters that education and a positive attitude is really all it takes. Mind over matter, I guess. I also want to sincely thank everyone here who helped me through my tough first few weeks. This board meant the world to me and kept me motivated. To everyone who thinks they can't do it, I say bullsh**. Keep going... Peace. -- 2tone My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/26/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 70 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,985 Amount Saved: $385 Life Gained: Days: 11 Hrs: 15 Mins: 28 Seconds: 49
