Boo, I know how hard it is. I thought about smoking 24/7 in the beginning. You just have to accept the way that you feel and go with it. One foot in front of the other...do your daily routine. When not working I spent alot of time lying on my sofa watching tv, barely moving, not going anywhere. That was the way it had to be for me. No socializing with smokers or in smoking establishments, ie no bars, parties with smokers, etc. I took alot of hot baths, read and posted on this site, cried, went to bed as early as possible, ate bags of cheesy popcorn, and DID NOT LIGHT THAT NEXT CIGARETTE. That is the only way to stay quit. Not one puff ever..NOPE! My best wishes for all of you ill family members. Boo, here are some things to remember as you continue with your quit: 1. The junkie is telling you a BIG FAT LIE. Smoking will change NOTHING. 2. You have already not smoked for 11 days. I know you don't want to throw that away. 3. You have already NOT SMOKED 117 cigarettes. That is awesome! 4. You have saved more than $115 -- how about spending some of it or all of it for a reward? Something just for you. To celebrate how great you are doing. 5. There are other ways to deal with stress. Find some counseling or be sure to make some time for YOU. Smoking is not your friend and will not change any of the circumstances of your life. You are strong, boo. You CAN do this. Hang in there! Wow Boo - talk about a full plate! You deserve a reward just for being able to type. You have gotten some very thoughtful, good advice. The only thing that I can add is that while you are being there for your family, the one thing, the biggest and greatest thing you can do for YOURSELF is to stay quit. It's almost counter-intuitive but it's true. Being a non-smoker will boost your self-confidence, your stamina, your overall view on life. It is tough the first bit no doubt about that but you CAN do it. I only wanted to beat my last quit of 9 days and look what happened. Just take it one day at a time, one minute at a time. I'm sorry that all of this "life-stuff" is happening all at once, it always seems to happen that way. But who do you want to be when things quiet down? You have the chance to be better than you were going in. A non-smoker...doesn't that have a nice ring? ;p My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/5/2004 Smoke-Free Days: 758 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 15,173 Amount Saved: $3411 Life Gained: Days: 56 Hrs: 3 Mins: 55 Seconds: 14

OK, let's talk. First of all, you do have your plate full with the family situation. It would be an easy thing to blame your not quitting on those things. As a matter of fact, we always can find reasons. I need to know if you are preparing for this quit with all the tools on the left of this page. Further, in that preparation, develop that bag of coping tools to get through the rough moments. Are you using an NRT?
