I don€™t know that this has anything to do with it, but when I was first diagnosed with GAD my doctor also did a full physical and found that I had some fluid in my inner ear caused by my allergies and I received medication for that, it did help with the dizziness a little bit. That might not have anything to do with why it happens to you but it couldn€™t hurt to look into it.

Hi! Andrea Thanks for responding. I too feel comfortable holding onto something when I feel like this. Its strange because sometimes I have it and sometimes it doesn't happen. It usually happens in big open spaces, I think I feel overstimulated because I'm already nervous to begin with. Let's just stay positive and keep working on it. ChaChi

Hi, I'm new here, but I found your post extremely interesting to me. I suffer with not only those unsteady feelings...but a phobia about them now. It is one of the reasons why I am agoraphobic....though I like to use the words "agoraphobic tendencies" as I am not completely housebound..but close. I have a difficult time walking with my children at a park or even down the sidewalk because of these feelings. They are strange. When they were small and I had the stroller, I felt reassured...because I could hold on to the stroller. Now though, it seems to come out of nowhere and it is scary. Almost like you are being pushed sideways or something. Sometimes I wonder if anyone even sees it in me when it comes over me..or if it's just a perception. Again, it has evolved into a phobia for me. I can't stand the idea of walking anywhere, especially open places..though sometimes I get it in "not so open" places. Sorry, no answers for you, but just wanted to let you know that you are not alone. Andrea

Hi I used to get this sensation alot and still do sometimes so I sympathise with you. I can only assume my medication has helped me. I also use Bachs Rescue Remedy aswell which seems to help. I'm curious though as to why we should get this sensation. What is it exactly that causes it? Could it even not be related to anxiety but more to do with a vestibular disorder? I have read up on this and it seems to fit the bill. I'd like someone to tell me why we get this please.

I often feel unsteady, disoriented, and light-headed when walking in big open spaces, busy streets, and crowds. I feel like I need something to hold onto, like I can't hold myself up. I was wondering if anyone can offer any tips on how to work through these symptoms. I am often walking when this happens and there is no place for me to stop and sit down.
