I screwed up today. I was at a wine show and the crowd I was with were mainly smokers. I gave in but should be on track to start again tomorrow. For all of you out there, the forth week was the hardest for me. I thought it would have been easier but the headaches and cravings got worse. I also figured out that I can't drink anything (especially wine). This process sucks!!!!

JD, I know what you mean about drinking. I went to a concert last nite w/my smoking hubby. Had a few drinks and really wanted to throw my quit away. Hubby wouldn't let me, and I feel fine today. I guess my drinking days are over. You learned from it, and way to go for jumping back in the game. JD, Sorry to hear you slipped. Time to get up, do some learning and keep going. For many, alcohol is a trigger. Some choose to stop drinking completely, others until they are more secure in their quit. If alcohol is a trigger for you, prepare well next time. Try reducing your intake, bringing coping mechanisms with you to the event (gum, toothpick, straw, mints) and have a reward for when you get back smoke free. You can do this! Go JD Go! Hi JD Quitting smoking and alcohol just don't mix. A lot of new quitters think they can handle a night of drining and lose their quits. Take what you have learned and use it to get you through your quit. Now you know to stay away from alcohol early in your quit. You can get back on track... just don't smoke. JD, yes, the process is unpleasant. But unfortunately you can't get through to the other side without paying the dues. Alcohol is a trigger for many people...we have to decide which is more important. In the long run and for your life's quality, I'd say the quit takes precedence. Jump back in, work the tools, know that you can do it!
