You need to be honest with your therapist. Remember, even though it sounds bad to you, chances are your therapist has dealt with this kind of thing before. You don't want things to escalate to actual self-injury. That can get very complicated. I have self-injured at times during my life. It took me a long time to tell my psychologist. The funny thing is, he wasn't repulsed. He didn't make me feel like a freak. We just talked about why I felt the need to do it and looked at alternative ways to get the relieve I was finding in hurting myself. (I know that sounds really bizarre). Your therapist can only do his/her best if he/she knows what is going on. lb

Theresa, Please talk to your counselor about this issue. This would be a good discussion for the both of you. Unfortunately, the site does not provide this type of counseling online. Your counselor, therapist or doctor can assist you with this question and perhaps make sense out of it for you. If you are worried, try writing down your feelings and/or questions and present them. This way the counselor can get a better idea of what you are feeling. Hope this helps, Josie ____________________________________ the Depression Center Support Team.

i read some emails about people cutting themselves. i don't cut myself, but i am always scarring my face trying to remove pimples and hairs. i feel like i am imperfect, so i have to remove the imperfections. i have never been able to tell anyone, including my counselor. i am also afraid to tell her about some violent things i've done otherwise. i am afraid to have someone write it down and then some freak accident will happen to someone i know and the cops will get a hold of the medical file and suspect me. does anyone know what things counselors have to disclose?
