Something that helped me feel less alone and supported was to join a support group. I learned from others situations as well as my own.
I've been more depressed lately and I thought I could barrel through it myself. My therapist said she thought I needed a med check. Sure enough, I am starting to feel better with the adjustment. We can't get better without help!
hang in there!
Hello - My name is Will and I hear you loud and clear... I ran into a similar situation almost 10 years ago and I'm still fighting with it now although I have learned an invaluable lesson - That we are not supposed to deal with these things on our own...
Finding help and then accepting that help is not easy at first and, like everything, takes practice. And with all practice, the first few times do not necessarily go so well - Nothing wrong with that - We must presevere...
My first encounters with doctors and therapists were not very encouraging but things improved, mainly because I was empowered by the understanding that I was actually HELPING MYSELF and DOING SOMETHING ABOUT IT. That alone is enough to make one feel strong.
See your doctor or, if you are religious, perhaps your priest, pastor, minister or what have you - All will be sensitive enough to steer you in the right direction. Above all, be patient and tolerant in these early stages - As much as charity as you'd like from the world, now is the time for you to give it to the world in the form of patience and tolerance...
Dear Mandyd,
We are here for you. I am so sorry that you felt you could not go on... My suggestion is that you go find a good therapist/counselor immediately and a good psychiatrist to get you started on the proper meds. The meds should help to stabilize your moods but it will take some time for them to work. The counseling is a great place to just talk it through and to process your thoughts with the help of a professional. Try not to isolate yourself as most are in the habit of doing when they are depressed. You need people. Hang in there and keep talking with us.
