Ann-Marie. Hi, Me again. I went to the link. They are located
in the suburbs. Do you know of any resources in Manhattan
in NYC. I do not have transportation besides subway and
bus-thanks
Hi Ann Marie. And thank you for the link for NY. I am too
young for menopause and am currently doing 10% Natural
Progesterone cream for another problem. And it helps in
general to relax me. I don't know where I would be without
the Natural progesterone and exercise. I will look into your
link-thanks
Hi, Elbie. congratulations on quitting. What an unpleasant predicament for you.
Although this situation does not last forever, it's awful to experience, I'm sure. I wonder if you're also menopausal? Some women cannot function well without hormone supplementation. And even though there was a lot of hype about a cancer risk, two doctors I recently spoke to said they'd rather opt for quality of life than feel less than whole.
As for free services in the Metro area, you might try http://www.saintclares.org/support_groups.asp
or call them to see what they can do for you?
Be sure to pamper yourself and to enact a good reward plan for the awesome job you're doing. If you can't "switch" from feeling negative to positive, try shifting to neutral for a while, such as getting absorbed in baking, crafts, puzzles, etc. This will not last forever. It is particularly felt in the second and third months.
I found this site through the stop smoking center site. I know
for sure that I am experiencing problems associated with
quitting. Every time I have quit in the past I have been prone
to depression and occasional suicidal thoughts. Mostly a
feeling of helplessness. I have tried anti-depressants-don't
work. I have a book on cognitive therapy. I have heard it
mentioned many times that a lot of people who quit exhibit
symptoms of depression and go on meds. But, that is not an
option for me. I am exercising a lot.
I cannot go to the doctor because everytime I have been
treated for depression insurance companies use it against
me in the future to deny me coverage (I am self-employed). I
cannot risk being denied coverage because I recently moved
to a new state and my coverage will automatically cancel in 3
months.
I really feel stuck because I want to overcome this. But
cannot seek treatment that is covered by insurance. Is there
any programs in the NY metro area where I can receive
group or individual counseling at a reduced rate, sliding scale
or for free? Or maybe there is a smoking cessation program
that includes counseling?????????
